Friends plays an important role in ongoing fundraising to ensure that Fidalgo Pool & Fitness Center remains a vital part of the community. Our aging facility relies on methods of funding beyond that provided through levy money and user fees. The funds below have been established to support Fidalgo Pool & Fitness Center, and you can click on a link to navigate to an online donation page.

See descriptions below for more information about each fund.  Your contribution is greatly appreciated.

General Fund financing new equipment, special projects, facility requests, and Friends operating expenses:

This fund enables us to meet facility needs and requests on an ongoing basis, keep equipment in good condition, and add to the tools that instructors need to keep classes safe, interesting, and challenging. Friends works closely with facility staff to determine areas of need. You can make an online donation to support Friends’ work here:

Endowment Fund supporting long-term sustainability and operations:

Friends of Fidalgo Pool & Fitness Center maintains endowment funds for the benefit of Fidalgo Pool & Fitness Center, which directly affects its patrons, through the support of programs, services, equipment, capital projects and repair needs.

Friends is qualified to receive cash donations, non-cash gifts, bequests and assets. You can contribute to our existing endowment fund that is in place to support long-term facility needs, to fund improvements, special requests or emergency needs of the pool. Or we can assist in establishing a new, unique endowment fund, one that can make your influence last for generations.

With our Endowment Fund options, you can choose a project you would like to see completed with your bequeathed donation or, alternatively, allow Friends to put your donation to best use.

You may also consider donating your annual Required Minimum Contribution (RMD) from your retirement account(s). Consult a tax professional for additional information.

If you wish to discuss donation options, please contact our Executive Director Arik Dahlen adahlen@fidalgopool.com (360.293.0673) or contact Friends directly at friendsoffidalgo@hotmail.com.

Capital Campaign (“Pool Together Campaign“) enabling funding for new construction:

We have not wavered in our goal to create a new and improved facility that will be a place for people to gather, connect, and recreate for years to come. With new leadership and a renewed commitment we are ready to begin moving forward with this project.

FPFC has been working through design changes and updating planning studies to ensure our facility will meet our community needs now and into the future. Our prime focus remains on those elements discussed in community meetings at the start of the campaign: a two-pool design, improved changing rooms, family changing rooms and increased ADA accessibility.

Updated conceptual design drawings are underway to share the vision with the public and to re-energize our capital campaign. Updates will follow through the FPFC e-mail system and questions can be directed to Arik Dahlen, Executive Director, at adahlen@fidalgopool.com.

We continue to accept donations for this project. Online donations may be made here:

Swim Scholarship Fund providing free swim lessons for children in financial need:

We believe all children should have the chance to learn to swim and to gain the important skills needed to be safe in and around water. The Friends Swim Scholarship Fund provides financial support for children to learn to swim. All money raised for the fund goes directly to support swim lessons at FPFC. Annually we provide approximately 65 scholarships.
